Job Summary
Perform thin film coating operations including set-up, calibration, chamber foiling, and analysis. Collect and evaluate operating data to adjust instruments, while handling fragile composite materials and following critical work instructions. Collaborate with engineers on testing, process development, and documentation, and assist in revising tooling factors for calibration runs. Adhere to safety guidelines, work in varied spaces including elevated areas, and maintain flexibility with rotating shifts. Report to the Production Manager at Sonoma Photonics in Santa Rosa, CA, with a 5/40 work schedule.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DOD security clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable period of time
- Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret numerical data for reporting purposes
- Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 25 lbs
- Experience with a variety of small hand tools, calibration tools, and measurement tools
- Experience in Thin Film Coating, deposition chambers, or related environments
- Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and methods
- Good math and written/verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated Mechanical Ability
- Ability to follow critical work instructions for assigned platform (past and present) and related analytical equipment
- Ability to work in a variety of work spaces/positions including small, enclosed spaces, awkward, and elevated spaces
- Ability to bend, twist, kneel, crawl, ascend/descend ladders, and/or work overhead
- Ability to work and communicate over ambient noise
- Adherence to all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines and regulations
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years' experience in Thin Film Coating manufacturing environment
- Completed college-level classes in STEM related courses math and science
- Proficient with computer programs to collect and evaluate operating data (i.e. Spectral Eval, TF Calc, LabView and Microsoft Office Suite)
- Active US Government Secret clearance
