Job Summary
Set up, operate, and adjust metal forming equipment using appropriate tools and procedures while performing all changeovers, punch, and shear die changes. Maintain the mill and surrounding area by keeping it clean, clear of obstructions, and organized, and assist material handlers with changing coils. Conduct routine quality checks using tape measures, micrometers, and other tools to verify length, width, thickness, straightness, bow, and camber, ensuring all paperwork is legible. Perform lockout procedures as required, wear all necessary PPE, and notify management immediately of any safety device malfunctions. Assist maintenance personnel with machine issues and complete required paperwork to specification.

- Ability to perform Lockout Procedure as required by mill specific Lockout JSA
- Ability to wear and maintain all required PPE
- Understanding of all safety devices and their operation
- Ability to notify management if safety devices are malfunctioning or missing prior to machine operation
- Ability to perform quality checks including checking length, width and hole spacing with a tape measure
- Ability to use a micrometer to measure thickness of the product periodically
- Ability to perform routine checks for straightness, bow, and camber
- Ability to perform routine checks for part dimension using appropriate tools
- Ability to appropriately maintain all quality paperwork in a legible manner
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and notify maintenance personnel concerning any machine issues that might slow down production, cause a safety concern or lead to further maintenance problems
- Ability to assist maintenance personnel as directed
- Ability to assist material handler with changing coils
- Ability to follow reject policy on rejected steel
- Ability to direct, assist and train helpers to perform necessary functions
- Ability to complete required paperwork to specification
