Manufacturing Process Engineer

Job Summary
Direct and coordinate the coating department by defining process parameters for web handling, tension control, and curing to ensure consistent output. Design new coating processes for diverse products while establishing control plans and capability studies to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Lead large projects and project teams to develop optimal process designs, managing budgets, timelines, and vendor partnerships. Diagnose complex quality issues using root cause analysis tools to implement corrective actions and reduce scrap. Train and develop coating operators on standardized methods, best practices, and safety protocols to build team capability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, process engineering, or a related role
- Strong background in project management
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Process focused
- Mechanically inclined
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external customers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and operational management software (e.g., ERP systems)
- Ability to execute tasks and projects assigned
- Ability to meet established timelines and ensure projects are completed as designed and expected
- Fork truck experience or willingness to operate machinery required
- Must be a leader embracing and modeling AFC's Core Values
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with plastics manufacturing, continuous manufacturing, or similar processes that are dependent on time, temperature, tension, and pressure
- PTFE, dispersion coating, or web-handling experience is a strong plus
