Manufacturing Operations Manager

Job Summary
Oversee all machining and related support operations across multiple shifts, developing processes that meet quality and cost standards. Manage the Machine Shop Department by establishing weekly schedules, mentoring Supervisors and Lead Machinists, and conducting performance reviews. Coordinate production with Production Control to ensure 100% on-time delivery while balancing cost, quality, and timing, including handling rush orders. Provide technical guidance to Sales, Engineering, and Production on machining and design for manufacturing. Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance machine shop capability, spindle uptime, and technology adoption. Comply with safety rules, participate in initiatives, and complete incident reporting as required.
Required Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work well with all levels of the organization
- Solid analytical skills with ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
- Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision or assistance, must have proven leadership skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Willing to work overtime as required
- Must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, reach, push and pull
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Minimum of an Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10 plus years of experience in both manual and CNC machining, preferably in a job-shop setting
- Previous leadership experience in machining with history of an increasing level of responsibility
- Basic computer skills and CAD/CAM experience
- Prior experience with Environmental Health and Safety practices in a manufacturing setting
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- MRP/ERP system experience
- Continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and quality system experience
