Job Summary
Manufacturing Estimator responsible for developing detailed cost estimates for machining, fabrication, stamping, and welding projects; interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications to determine materials, labor, and process requirements; determine manufacturing methods, routing steps, setup and run times, and required tooling or fixtures; prepare full quotations including materials, outside processing, and lead times using JobBOSS and Excel; create and maintain estimating templates, quote logs, and standard cost data for consistency and traceability; communicate directly with customers to clarify technical details, manufacturability concerns, and delivery expectations; collaborate with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to verify accuracy of material pricing and subcontract costs; support the creation of process routers/travelers for awarded work, ensuring alignment between quote and production plan; participate in continuous improvement by reviewing completed jobs and comparing estimated vs. actual costs; provide input on cost reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities; maintain a professional and responsive approach to customer RFQs and internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of experience in estimating or manufacturing engineering within metal fabrication, stamping, or machining environments
- Strong understanding of machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly processes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (JobBOSS experience strongly preferred)
