Job Summary

Support the design, development, installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment across current operations and future factory expansions. Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready manufacturing lines, owning projects end-to-end such as fixture design, tooling improvements, and process documentation. Troubleshoot equipment and production issues, identify root causes, and implement improvements while collaborating with Process Engineering to refine scalable manufacturing processes. Participate in hands-on testing, validation, and iteration of manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and tooling to optimize throughput, quality, yield, and reliability. Transition products from low-volume prototype builds to full-scale manufacturing, collecting and analyzing data to drive process and equipment enhancements.

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, including materials, GD&T, drafting standards, and engineering calculations
  • Experience with mechanical CAD tools such as 3DEXPERIENCE, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or similar
  • Hands-on experience building, testing, troubleshooting, or modifying mechanical systems through coursework, student projects, internships, research, or personal projects
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced engineering environment
  • Available to work onsite in Burlingame, CA for a 3-, 6-, or 9-month internship term
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing, equipment design, automation, or industrial engineering internship or project experience
  • Basic knowledge of machine safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with automation architectures, sensors, actuators, controls, and PLC-based systems
  • Exposure to Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
  • Experience designing or fabricating fixtures, tooling, prototypes, or mechanical assemblies
  • Familiarity with manufacturing metrics such as cycle time, throughput, yield, OEE, or equipment uptime
