Job Summary

Manufacturing Engineering Specialist responsible for developing, validating, and owning back-end electronics manufacturing processes (press-fit, mechanical PCB assembly, and box build) including tooling design, process validation, and continuous improvement. Lead press-fit program development (force windows, insertion profiles, compliance limits), design and qualify fixtures and nests, ensure coplanarity and alignment, and drive manufacturability through DFx. Collaborate across Design Engineering, Quality, Test, Supply Chain, and Production; drive NPI and production launches, review BOMs and assembly drawings, and implement DFM/DFA improvements. Track FPY, DPMO, and OEE while applying Lean/Six Sigma tools to reduce waste and variation; ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 and support audits. Provide technical training to operators and technicians and support tooling maintenance and calibration.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of hands-on electronics manufacturing experience
  • Hands-on experience with press-fit processes and tooling
  • Mechanical PCB assembly and box build
  • Fixture and tooling design
  • Strong ability to read BOMs and engineering drawings
  • Experience with manufacturing process development and validation
  • Proficiency with Excel and MES/SPC tools
  • Experience with DOE, Six Sigma methodologies (preferred)
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 (preferred)

Desired Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing or related engineering role
  • Hands-on experience with press-fit processes and tooling
  • Mechanical PCB assembly and box build
  • Fixture and tooling design
  • BOM management and ability to read engineering documentation
  • Experience with manufacturing process development and validation
  • Proficiency with Excel; familiarity with MES/SPC tools
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards (preferred)
  • Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for tooling design (preferred)
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) improvements
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (preferred)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMs and assembly drawings
  • Experience leading NPI and production launches (preferred)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Quality, Test Engineering, Supply Chain
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting using MES/SPC tools
  • Strong communication and training skills for production operators and technicians
