Manufacturing Engineering Intern- Spacecraft Components

Job Summary
Support production operations, optimize processes, and design production tooling for spacecraft components ranging from reaction wheels to propulsion systems. Write clear work instructions for technicians, assist with component build and test, and investigate technical problems and non-conformances. Collaborate with engineers on manufacturing projects, contribute to Quality Assurance documentation, and participate in team meetings to share innovative ideas. This internship offers hands-on experience with real space technology projects, mentorship from industry professionals, and exposure to cutting-edge rocket and spacecraft systems within Rocket Lab's Auckland location.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to write clear and concise technical documentation
- Can-do approach and flexibility to thrive when plans change
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Passion for aerospace, space technology, and innovation
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable
Desired Qualifications
- Mechanical design experience
- Hands-on fabrication experience with a variety of processes such as metal machining and 3D printing
- Previous internship or project experience in manufacturing or aerospace
- Familiarity with CAD software and manufacturing tools
