Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer – Weld to support development, optimization, and continuous improvement of welding and fabrication processes within the manufacturing environment. You will serve as a technical resource to resolve production challenges, improve efficiency, and ensure product quality and regulatory compliance. You’ll work within a cross-functional team focused on welding and fabrication operations, collaborating with engineers, technicians, and operators to achieve production goals and maintain quality. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities to improve products or reduce costs through knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment; troubleshooting design, material, or process problems; determining root causes using statistical methods; performing nonconforming material analysis and contributing to NCM reporting; planning sequences for fabrication and welding to maximize efficiency; reading blueprints and CAD drawings; designing and setting up weld robot cells; updating documentation and SOPs; ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards; applying continuous improvement methods (lean); and guiding technical staff on material development for projected products.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding or Industrial Engineering required
- Over 2 years of job-related experience in manufacturing and weld engineering
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing subject areas
- Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy in a broad range of tasks associated with production welding with limited supervision
- Knowledge of design techniques, weld tooling, and weld processes involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Proficient with Solid Edge or Solid Works or Auto-CAD programs
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
- The ability to program welding robots is preferred
- Authorized to work for an employer in the U.S. (visa sponsorship not available)
- Experience with welding validations, weld processes and developing welding procedure specifications (WPS)
- IQ/OQ/PQ familiarity for equipment/process validation
- Strong leadership and project-management capabilities
