Job Summary
TPS Manufacturing Engineer role to scale in-house heatshield manufacturing for space vehicles, collaborating with design engineers and technicians to improve build processes, refine floor layouts and product flow, and implement standardized assembly and inspection procedures for Thermal Protection Systems, including ceramic matrix composite and ablative materials; responsibilities include process direction to increase vehicle cadence, solving large-scale production challenges, coordinating with technicians and supply chain to prevent delays, reviewing work instructions, identifying tooling/training gaps, addressing non-conformance with root-cause corrective actions, and leveraging hands-on aerospace manufacturing experience to support end-to-end vehicle production; preferred experience includes aerospace hardware development, project management of full lifecycle, and familiarity with 3D CAD tools and factory layout software.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or aerospace engineering
- 1-4+ years of manufacturing experience
- Teamwork, communication (verbal and written), and problem solving in a collaborative environment
- Proven experience working on complex technical programs, preferably within aerospace or related industries
- Strong first principles thinking
- Hands-on experience building complex vehicles
- Must be physically able to regularly lift 25 lbs.
- Must be comfortable bending, stooping, and standing
- Hands-on position may require standing and working directly with hardware on the floor
