Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer to lead and support manufacturing operations for aerospace programs in Santa Ana, CA. Responsibilities include analyzing design documents to establish manufacturing methods, creating conceptual tooling, preparing BOMs, coordinating outside vendor services (heat treat, anodizing, painting), managing production plans and sequencing, ensuring compliance with customer and company requirements, reviewing changes to meet revised requirements, dispositioning nonconforming parts, guiding production workers and shop supervisors on tooling and processes, estimating engineering time and tooling costs, and providing technical support to resolve manufacturing problems. Requires a 4-year engineering degree, 3-5 years in manufacturing engineering (aerospace preferred), proficiency in fabrication/assembly, shop math, familiarity with materials and tooling, and competency with computerized systems. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and compliance with OSHA/EPA/EEO standards, with physical duties including occasional lifting up to 20 pounds and potential standing for long periods.
Required Qualifications
- 4-year degree in manufacturing engineering or mechanical engineering, or equivalent
- 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in aerospace
- familiarity with fabrication, assembly and shop math (algebra, trigonometry, spatial relations)
- understanding of material processes and tooling design
