Manufacturing Engineer (Structures)

Job Summary
Manufactures structures for orbital vehicles and scales production from bespoke builds to many concurrent builds. The Structures Manufacturing Engineer will support structural subassembly production (primary airframe, tanks, and bonded structures) and owns build processes from work instruction development through production floor implementation. Collaborates with design engineers and technicians across structures, thermal protection systems, propulsion, and avionics to implement incremental improvements and increase vehicle cadence. Responsibilities include refining floor layouts, capacity models, product flow analysis, developing standardized processes for vehicle integration, assessing costs to expand work-cell capabilities, coordinating with technicians and supply chain to prevent schedule delays, reviewing work instructions to implement changes and address tooling/training gaps, and identifying non-conformance issues for root-cause corrective actions. On-site in El Segundo, CA. Preferred experience includes aerospace systems knowledge, project management of full lifecycle, transitioning assemblies from development to production, aerospace hardware development practices, and tooling design with 3D CAD tools.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or aerospace engineering
- 1-4+ years of manufacturing experience
- Teamwork, communication (verbal and written), and problem solving in a collaborative environment
- Proven experience working on complex technical programs, preferably within aerospace or related industries
- Strong first principles thinking
- Hands-on experience building complex vehicles
- Must be physically able to regularly lift 25 lbs.
- Must be comfortable bending, stooping, and standing
- Hands-on position may require standing and working directly with hardware on the floor
