Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer focused on soldering & wave (THT) assembly. Develop, optimize, and sustain wave soldering and manual/ selective soldering processes; define parameter controls (temperature profiles, conveyor speed, dwell time, flux density); lead IQ/OQ/PQ process validation and PFMEA documentation; ensure IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 compliance; drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for solder defects (bridges, voids, insufficient fill, cold solder joints); monitor yield, scrap, and rework; support customer/internal audits; specify and qualify wave solder machines, fixtures, and tooling; collaborate on solder alloys, flux chemistries, and thermal profiling; lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) and NPI process strategies; ensure RoHS/REACH compliance and safety protocols; promote cross-functional communication and high-quality, compliant production.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or related field)
- 3–7+ years in electronics manufacturing engineering
- Strong experience with wave soldering (critical)
- Through-hole (THT) processes
- Manual / selective soldering
- IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001)
- Solder alloys: lead-free, SnPb, HMP
- Flux types and thermal profiling
- Statistical tools (SPC, DOE, Minitab)
- Failure analysis tools (microscopy, X-ray, cross-sectioning)
- Familiarity with MES/ERP systems and process documentation tools
- Soft skills: problem-solving and communication
- Ability to lead cross-functional improvement efforts
- Detail-oriented with focus on quality and compliance
- Preferred: IPC certification (CIT or CIS), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
- Experience with selective soldering and conformal coating processes
- Familiarity with automated inspection (AOI, AXI)
