Job Summary
Architect production lines by designing tactical layouts, station flows, and line balances for custom assembly cells. Source and deploy specialized equipment, then model custom tooling and fixturing using SolidWorks to balance quality with rapid launches. Fabricate variants via CNC, 3D printing, and laser cutting, while establishing baseline process tests to fine-tune equipment parameters. Lead root cause investigations and drive continuous improvements in yield, throughput, and ergonomics. Partner with product development engineers to optimize products for manufacturability and scalability. Transition technologies from prototypes to robust production streams within low-volume operations.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
- 3–5+ years of industry experience working in custom machinery integration, product launch, line deployment, or an initial pilot production setting
- Proficient in creating, editing and reading 2D production drawings from component to top level assembly drawings
- Proficient 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred) coupled with structured drawing practices for custom fixturing
- Practical, hands-on familiarity with physical shop environments—knowing how to run manual or basic CNC equipment, leverage 3D printing (FDM/SLA), or tap into rapid tooling options to build your own concepts
- Experience in capital equipment validation, material selection compatibility (such as polymers and adhesives), and line debugging
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of GD&T is desirable
- Background navigating precision assembly parameters in high-mix or consulting environments is a plus
- Familiarity with medical devices, biotechnology automation, or working under standard quality frameworks (such as an ISO-13485 eQMS) is highly desirable
