Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer for Optical Fiber at SpaceX (Starlink) responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing and test processes for optical fiber assemblies from NPI to high-volume production. Design and implement development and production test procedures to improve reliability; drive process improvements and corrective actions; lead investigations on non-conforming hardware; collaborate with design teams to enhance manufacturability and reliability; identify trends to optimize output, quality, and cost of manufacturability. Must be able to travel up to 10% to launch sites and be willing to work extended hours/weekends as needed. ITAR-compliant eligibility is required (US citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations). Title aligns with mid-level manufacturing engineering responsibilities and requires 1+ years of relevant experience; advanced technical degree preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, or other engineering discipline
- 1+ years of professional mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing (internships/co-ops and club projects can apply)
