Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer, Machining (Starship) drives in-house machining capability development for Starship components, leads manufacturing and integration within production, and collaborates with SpaceX machine shop facilities. Responsibilities include developing machining capability, analyzing parts for DFM, maintaining feedback with downstream operations, reviewing quality concerns and sign-off on out-of-tolerance conditions, procuring and maintaining machine shop equipment, cost optimization, developing manufacturing methodologies, and implementing process and equipment improvements. Preferred skills include CNC programming, GD&T, advanced metrology (CMMs, photogrammetry, 3D imaging), and operating state-of-the-art machining equipment; requires the ability to work long hours and weekends and physical requirements such as stooping, bending, and standing. Salary ranges for Manufacturing Engineer Level 1 ($100k-$115k) and Level 2 ($110k-$135k) are provided with compensation determined based on knowledge, education, and experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or physics
- 1+ years of machine shop experience
