Manufacturing Engineer - Machining

Job Summary
Prepare machining routings, resolve non-conformances by reviewing drawings and specifications, and develop procedures for CNC and manual operations. Establish time standards through historical data analysis and conduct manufacturability reviews to identify required tooling and fixtures. Design jigs and fixtures with basic strength evaluations, support equipment commissioning, and mentor junior team members and co-op students. Lead medium-scale projects and provide shop-floor training on machining processes and documentation. This role contributes to continuous improvement initiatives within BWXT Canada's nuclear and medical isotope manufacturing operations in Cambridge, Ontario.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 3–5 years of machining‐focused experience in a fast‐paced manufacturing environment
- Hands‐on experience with CNC machining processes, cutting tools, setup methods, and machining optimization
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‐solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across functions
- Knowledge of CSA machine guarding requirements
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks (or similar CAD)
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience in the nuclear industry
