Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer, Injection Molding responsible for developing plastic injection molding manufacturing processes for Starlink hardware, optimizing processes through DOE experiments and trials, enabling high-volume throughput (1M+ per year), and owning production layout to improve material flow. Role includes identifying safety improvements, managing tooling, inventory, training, and build processes aligned with latest design configuration; driving design for test (DFT) and design for manufacturing (DFM) with design/test engineers; pursuing automation opportunities and evaluating ROI; collaborating with in-house resources or vendors to implement solutions on production lines; and supporting production with technical issue resolution. Requires a Bachelor's in engineering or physics and 1+ years of manufacturing experience; preferred are advanced degrees, direct injection molding experience, tooling design for high volume, supplier/manufacturer development, iterative environments, automation experience, and NX/Teamcenter familiarity. ITAR compliance and travel up to 10% may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or physics
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Desired Qualifications
- Direct experience with plastic injection molding
- Ability to design tooling for high volume manufacturing
- Experience with design of experiments (DOE), gauge R&R, and process qualifications
- Experience with NX and Teamcenter
- Experience implementing automation into production processes
- Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing and scaling to high volume as part of a cross-functional team
- Experience with ERP, MRP, and MES systems
- Experience developing and maintaining supplier and contract manufacturers
