Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer III provides manufacturing engineering support for new and existing production, including development and optimization of molding and tooling processes for elastomer components, coordinating with operations, design engineering, quality, and project management. Responsibilities include leading the design, build, and qualification of new mold tooling and processing equipment; resolving molding, build-up, test, and assembly issues; leading analysis of equipment, component, and process failures with failure reports and resolution plans; managing production tooling status and scheduling rework or replacement; designing and fabricating test equipment (hydraulics, mechanical, and control systems); developing new tooling-related vendors/machine shops; developing and implementing HSE procedures and training production personnel; mentoring team members; and performing other duties as assigned. Requires advanced proficiency in elastomer processing, strong proficiency with SolidWorks/AutoCAD, and the ability to work independently on multiple tasks, including international travel.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Engineering or related field with at least 5 years of related experience; or MS degree in Engineering or related field with at least 4 years of related experience; At least 10 years of related experience without a degree.
- Advanced experience in: (a) manufacturing engineering direct support and (b) Product engineering
- Advanced experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Advanced understanding of metal properties (yield/machinability/weldability/hardenability)
- Advanced experience with polymer based materials and associated molding processes
- Must be able to work independently, handle multiple tasks/projects, and train others.
- Advanced experience with the process of conceptualizing new tooling and equipment and produce fully realized and functional designs with drawings, proper strength rating, and operation procedures.
- Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
- Occasional travel, including international travel
