Job Summary
Lead interdisciplinary teams to develop and recommend improvements in manufacturing systems, product manufacturability, and cost effectiveness. Study, analyze, and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, fixtures, and tooling to support production while investigating root causes for manufacturing problems. Mentor junior engineers, train operators on machine operations and assembly applications, and develop manufacturing operating instructions. Evaluate new product designs, review design change requests for feasibility and savings, and perform cost analyses for make-or-buy decisions. Test and select facilities, equipment, and materials required for production in conjunction with purchasing and production supervision. Track manufacturing metrics, evaluate non-conformances as part of the Material Review Board, and present ROI business cases to management for capital equipment and process development.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience as Manufacturing Engineer
- Practical application of the theories of modern production principles and methods as applied to a high technology design and manufacturing operation
- Knowledge of material characteristics and processing
- Knowledge of chemicals
- Basic concepts of electrical systems
- Basic concepts of mechanical systems
- Basic concepts of fluids
- Basic concepts of heat transfer
- Experience with CAD software
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material science, or related field
- Ability to identify and prioritize work with limited input from manager
- Ability to develop ROI or business case and present to management in the support of capital equipment, new product or process development and productivity improvements
- Must be available to work overtime, as needed
- Flexible work schedule to support production
- Must complete a satisfactory background check
- FAA sensitive positions require employees to participate in a random drug test pool
