Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer II responsible for implementing and improving engineering and manufacturing processes across Kollmorgen. Collaborates with internal groups and external suppliers to translate specifications into product, process, tooling, or equipment designs, and to drive projects from concept through validation and production. Develops detailed specifications, runoff and validation plans, and manages budgets for Capital Investment Projects. Drives process improvements to reduce waste, costs, and lead times; maintains project schedules; mentors other engineers; leads or facilitates kaizen activities; and travels to support equipment validation (<15%). Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or related field) with several years in manufacturing, and hands-on experience with lean methods, problem-solving tools, and mechanical design and fabrication capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with lean engineering or similar methodology
- Experience coordinating complex projects
- Experience with kaizen, lean, standard work, mistake-proofing, SPC, and FMEA
- Experience in verification and validation of manufacturing processes
- Experience with equipment or tooling design and fabrication
- Technical drawing interpretation and report writing
- Mechanical design, 3D modeling, 2D detail drawing creation
- Ability to work with open-ended objectives and prioritize critical paths
- Demonstrates urgency to meet project objectives
