Job Summary
As a Manufacturing Engineer II at Smith+Nephew, you will lead the development and optimization of manufacturing processes for surgical devices. Responsibilities include driving design for manufacturability and transferring robust processes into high-volume production. You will develop and validate equipment and engage with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and enhance production efficiency. A bachelor's degree in engineering and 2-5 years of relevant experience are required, along with strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Engineering (Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial or related)
- 2-5 years engineering experience in manufacturing or process engineering
- Executing process development and validations with guidance
Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience scaling products from prototype to production
- Familiarity with regulated medical device environments
- Understanding of manufacturing metrics and continuous improvement tools (e.g., lean, DMAIC)
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Fixture/tooling design and implementation skills
