Manufacturing Engineer I

Job Summary
Construct assembly drawings, costed BOMS, and standardized work instructions for new product introductions while providing day-to-day manufacturing engineering support to loading dock equipment and impact door production lines. Troubleshoot manufacturing, equipment, and assembly issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules. Work with maintenance personnel to develop equipment PM plans and act on Engineering Change Requests as needed. Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Analyze production data to reduce waste and improve cycle times. Provide technical training to production personnel and create installation, service, and training materials with field services. Expected travel is under 25%. Required Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
- Manufacturing experience in a metal fabrication, industrial equipment, door systems, loading dock equipment, or related manufacturing environment
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Experience with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software package such as Oracle, JD Edwards, or SAP
- Analytical problem solver
- Able to work with minimal supervision and accomplish goals in a timely manner
- Effective communicator
- Ability to work in a group environment
- Ability to multitask to meet customer requirements
- Physically able to safely maneuver in production areas
- May require walking primarily on a level surface for specific periods throughout the day
- Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday
- Expected travel will be <25%
- Fluency in English
Desired Qualifications
- Manufacturing experience in a metal fabrication, industrial equipment, door systems, loading dock equipment, or related manufacturing environment are preferrable
- Experience using CREO 3D modeling software a plus
- Lean methodology experience a plus
- Mechanical design experience a plus
- Hörmann manages operations with SAP; therefore, experience with this package is preferred
- Candidates with second language ability especially in Spanish or German will be given additional consideration
