Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer, Fluid Systems supporting the development and build of tube bending and welding cells for artificial-gravity space stations. Responsibilities include conceptualizing and developing manufacturing processes, creating and maintaining detailed manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, and work instructions; driving first-build and test efforts through design integration, BOM development, and specification authoring; identifying and resolving manufacturing challenges via root-cause analysis; collaborating with design, integration, QA, and external vendors; developing tooling solutions to increase throughput while reducing operational burden; enforcing robust quality control processes; and challenging existing production and design requirements using data-driven insights to optimize manufacturing efficiency and reduce waste. Requires experience with tube bending, orbital tube welding (OTW), TIG welding, tooling design, and pressure testing; willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones. Pay ranges but no explicit annualized pay is needed here beyond the listed salary band.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience (internships and extracurricular experience is applicable)
