Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary
Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes in an industrial plant. Develop, evaluate, and improve production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and equipment/workspace layout for maximum efficiency. Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs. Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements. Develop the most efficient processes to complete manufacturing builds and design fixtures/gages to support manufacturing. Specify and procure new equipment to continually improve efficiency (automation). Help develop product designs to ensure manufacturability. Travel to suppliers as needed to improve their processes for cost-saving/quality improvements. Support Quality Assurance with fixture/gage design and project tasks. Develop and pursue Continual Improvement projects.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
- 5 to 10 years of manufacturing or mechanical engineering experience
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering principles and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent math skills
- SolidWorks (or other 3D CAD) experience
- Proficient in Word, Excel
- Strong communication skills- answering technical questions
- Ability to generate ideas for process improvements and lean manufacturing
