Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer at Amsted Automotive, Powder Metal Division, responsible for evaluating manufacturing processes to optimize cost and quality; support process/industrial engineering, production standard costs, automation/tooling/equipment procurement, improving operating performance, waste reduction, and troubleshooting; supports continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to identify and eliminate waste. Key duties include APQP collaboration for new part opportunities and major process changes, evaluating and designing systems for continuous improvement, automation design and process flow, coordination of scrap reduction and variances, planning and monitoring capital projects, and developing/maintaining drawings standards and work instructions. Requires strong CAD/CAM skills (SolidWorks/AutoCAD, Mastercam/Surfcam/Esprit), GD&T knowledge, CNC machining experience, Fanuc controls, and excellent communication.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, or relevant experience, required.
- At least 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- CNC Machining experience and Tooling Knowledge.
- Familiar with GD&T and its application.
- Knowledge of automation and part handling designs, and electrical interface systems.
- Project Management & Multitasking skills with ability to meet timelines and deadlines with budget and time constraints.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to work with all levels of associates.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Open minded and quickly adaptable to change.
- Ability to facilitate, support, and implement change within the organization.
- Possesses working knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and CAM software (Mastercam/Surfcam/Esprit) with the ability to apply those skills.
- Knowledge of Fanuc based controls.
