Manufacturing Cell Manager

Job Summary
Proactively identify and implement continuous quality and cost improvements for cell operations. Set expectations, monitor performance, and take corrective action while recognizing employees who exceed objectives. Establish and monitor annual budgets, develop systems for cost reductions and productivity increases, and function as a buyer/planner for inventory and purchases. Research, justify, and implement new technology to maximize profitability, working with suppliers to ensure component quality and delivery. Manage staff and resources to achieve cell objectives, establish training requirements, and develop cross-trained multi-functional employees. Spend a minimum of 15% of time on the factory floor ensuring compliance with all company policies and practices.
Required Qualifications
- B.A. in Business, B.S. in Engineering, or equivalent
- 5 years manufacturing experience
- 2 years supervisory experience
- Minimum of 6 to 8 years manufacturing experience
- Knowledge or experience with manufacturing information systems (forecasting, MRP, SPC, labor, costing)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good coaching, facilitating and counseling capabilities
- Strong leadership qualities
- Machinist/assembly experience
- Experience with Just-In-Time principles and implementation
- Past budgeting/accounting experience, preferably ownership of own budget
- Purchasing experience, contact with outside vendors
- Understanding of SPC and Total Quality concepts
- Experience supervising manufacturing employees
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must spend a minimum of 15% of time on factory floor
