Job Summary

Manufacturing and Process Engineer at Ulbrich Shaped Wire division in North Haven, CT. The role partners with maintenance and production to develop and implement continuous improvement projects, providing technical support on machine downtime, preventative actions, and quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions. Responsibilities include leading USW Lean activities (Kaizen/A3/TPM events), developing detailed work instructions, maintaining CAD layouts of equipment, identifying new manufacturing equipment via ROI and payback analyses, qualifying equipment builders and third-party vendors, interfacing with customers, vendors, sales, and manufacturing staff on quality issues, coordinating with production to minimize downtime, supporting processes related to metal processing (including industrial cleaning technology, wire straightening, inline/offline gaging for Shaped Wire metrology), and providing cross-functional support to procurement, QA, maintenance, and production. The role involves SAS for IoT implementation for process and quality improvement and machine predictive maintenance, systematic troubleshooting of machine failures, and the ability to work on-site with a base salary plus bonus. A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering is preferred with at least 3 years of manufacturing experience, and the company emphasizes lean manufacturing and quality tools, CAD proficiency, effective communication, and a strong customer-service orientation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering (preferred)
  • minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing concepts and Quality tools and systems
  • Proficient with CAD or other technology for engineering goals
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to acquire new skills improving efficiency and project quality
  • Experience with rapid prototyping methods
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Comfort with dynamic work conditions and efficient decision making
  • On-site presence Monday-Friday
