Job Summary
Operate various manual machining tools and equipment to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies. Observe safety procedures and use proper protective gear, including eye and ear protection. Record data for service and design results, utilizing measuring devices to ensure proper sizing. Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling on engine lathes. Execute metalizing and welding techniques using MIG, TIG, torch, and stick welders. Set up and perform tool-post grinding, broaching, and Babbitt bearing work. Use hand-held and stationary power tools like band saws, belt sanders, and files. Lift, tighten, and secure heavy objects while adhering to safety precautions. Assist other machinists and shop departments with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisors.
