Job Summary
Assist machinists with daily machine shop operations by safely operating manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders. Read blueprints and technical drawings, then measure and inspect components using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to verify dimensions. Support the production of aggregate processing equipment through machining, repairing, rebuilding, and fabricating parts while performing routine maintenance on tooling. Maintain a clean, organized shop environment and strictly follow OSHA safety policies and procedures. Participate in on-the-job training and skill-development opportunities under mentorship.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machining skills
- Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools
- Basic math skills, including measuring and calculating dimensions
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed footwear
- Ability to work safely around moving machinery and equipment
- Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday
Desired Qualifications
- Trade school, vocational training, or coursework in machining, manufacturing, welding, or related fields
- Experience reading blueprints or technical drawings
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Forklift certification or experience
