Job Summary
Lead a small team through the technical development of embedded software for electrosurgical devices, developing applications for electrosurgical and robotic products used in minimally invasive surgery. Create software and firmware in object-oriented C++, C, Verilog, and Python for embedded systems, while building tools to acquire, process, store, and analyze energy data in real-time. Support manufacturing and test teams by independently solving assigned problems and collaborating within a multidisciplinary group. This role focuses on architectural design and implementation for novel electrosurgical systems developed by the Sunnyvale Engineering group at Intuitive, a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years of experience and a Master's degree; or equivalent experience
- Experience designing complete software solutions for embedded systems using C/C++ language on bare-metal and Linux based embedded systems
- Working knowledge of peripherals commonly used on embedded systems such as ADCs, DACs, PWM and waveform generation and serial communications (I2C, SPI, RS232, CAN)
- Proven experience with hands-on hardware bring-up and collaboration, utilizing electronic bench equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
- Strong knowledge of control theory and experience developing and tuning control systems
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the medical device industry, familiarity with standards 60601 and 62304 is strongly preferred
