Job Summary
Manage commercial aspects of capital maintenance projects from tender through final account, driving financial goals and robust risk management. Monitor costs continuously, produce compensation event quotations, and submit monthly applications and Cost Valuation Reconciliations to the client. Lead subcontract works packages, maintain cash-positive positions, and develop junior Quantity Surveyors within the operating unit. Report regularly to the Commercial Manager and board on forecasts, cash flow, and WIP while engaging stakeholders to build client relationships. Based in or around Devon or Cornwall with regional site travel.
Required Qualifications
- Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS
- Relevant degree
- Experience in a construction/engineering environment
- Solid knowledge of the construction process
- Experience working across large single or multiple smaller schemes
- Strong commercial awareness
- Technical knowledge, fully versed in standard forms of contract
- Experience estimating from first principles — particularly NEC3/4
- Confident using Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle)
- Strong Excel and Word skills
- CSCS card, appropriate to role
Desired Qualifications
- Working towards full membership of MRICS
- Water sector experience
- Strong interest in the water sector
