Job Summary
Conduct field inspections and subsurface explorations to determine causes of geotechnical system failures in slopes, foundations, tunnels, levees, and dams. Evaluate site conditions for root cause analyses and conceptual mitigation design, while creating geospatial models, topographic maps, and thematic maps. Engage directly with clients regarding project strategy and deliverables, including presenting findings in written and verbal formats. Perform peer reviews of geologic and geotechnical engineering documents and evaluate construction claims. Lead project teams on the execution of deliverables and develop work with new and existing clients. Requires a Ph.D. or MS in geological sciences, PG licensure, and CEG/CHG certification. Base salary ranges from $140,000 to $170,000 annually.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in geological sciences specializing in Engineering Geology, or a related field from an accredited university, plus 5 years of post-graduate experience
- MS in Geological Sciences specializing in Engineering Geology, or a related field from an accredited university, plus 10 years of post-graduate experience
- Licensure as a professional Geologist (PG) or Geophysicist (PGP) in at least one state
- Certification as Engineering Geologist (CEG) or Hydrogeologist (CHG) in at least one state, or the ability to obtain a certification within 2 years
