Job Summary
Conduct national, state, and local fire and building code reviews while analyzing active and passive fire protection systems. Lead laboratory experimental design, construction, and coordination of testing, alongside fire and explosion investigations requiring hands-on field experience. Manage multidisciplinary teams on complex interdisciplinary problems with tight deadlines, identify business development opportunities, and present technical findings to clients. Prepare proposals and reports while maintaining strong client relationships across Atlanta, Chicago, and other offices. Requires M.S. or Ph.D. in Fire Protection Engineering, PE license preferred, and 5+ years of industry experience. Total compensation ranges from $115,000 to $135,000 annually, including a 7% 401(k) match.
Required Qualifications
- M.S., M.Eng., M.E., or Ph.D. in Fire Protection Engineering
- Presently legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required.
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in Fire Protection Engineering
- Business development experience with a proven track record, and a demonstrated ability to attract new and/or repeat clients or funding
- Demonstrated leadership skills, proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, and strong mentorship skills with technical staff
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Strong desire and ability to tackle a wide variety of problems within and outside direct area of expertise
- Prior experience with prescriptive and/or performance-based analysis and application of codes and standards published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Code Council (ICC), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), and similar
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineering License (PE) strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience in fire protection system design, installation, inspection, testing and maintenance preferred
