Job Summary
Managing Director, Strategic Partnerships Business Development responsible for developing, managing, and expanding strategic partnerships to drive deposit growth and client acquisition across Fortis Bank’s Self-Directed IRA (SDIRA) and specialty banking platforms. This role will identify new partnership opportunities, deepen existing relationships, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver exceptional partner and client experiences. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, relationship builder, and growth-oriented leader with experience in financial services, retirement solutions, business development, or partnership management. Responsibilities include building strong relationships with centers of influence (Wealth Management Consultants, CPA/Tax Advisors, Estate Planning & Trust Attorneys, SDIRA Custodians, Real Estate Professionals), meeting deposit production targets, maintaining a robust pipeline and forecasts, identifying growth opportunities with partners, monitoring industry trends, ensuring compliance with risk and regulatory standards, conducting regular partner reviews, and driving partner engagement and retention. The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree, 10-15 years in business development, 5-7 years in related financial services sectors, Salesforce CRM proficiency, and a hybrid work setup with 4-5 days/week in a Fortis Bank office and ~40% travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in a business development position
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial services, retirement services, fintech, or related industries preferred
- Proven ability to proactively source, qualify, and advance new provider-client opportunities required
- Deep understanding of financial solutions, including deposits, loans, and treasury management products required
- Familiarity with Self-Directed IRAs, Solo401(k), IRA Checkbook Control, and Non-Recourse Loan structures preferred
- Knowledge of working with custodians, trust companies, and/or estate planning/trust attorneys preferred
- Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM required
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
- Strong organizational time management skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to quickly grasp concepts and processes with limited guidance from management
- Must be able to work in a team environment with co-workers and management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A positive and collaborative approach with both peers and management
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work on changing priorities with enthusiasm
