Job Summary
The Managing Director of Orchestra Communications leads all communication efforts for The Philadelphia Orchestra, setting a strategic direction for media relations and digital platforms. This role involves developing a comprehensive communications strategy, overseeing digital storytelling and content creation, managing internal teams and external communications, and serving as a key spokesperson. Required qualifications include 10 years of experience in communications, strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of classical music, and proven success in integrated communications strategy. A Bachelor's degree is required, with an advanced degree preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations, or related fields
- Significant leadership responsibility within a complex organization
- Deep knowledge of classical music and the orchestral field
- Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated communications strategies
- Deep fluency in contemporary and emerging digital communications trends
- Proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor to executives and artistic leaders
- Exceptional writing, editing, digital acumen, and storytelling skills
- Strong experience in media relations
- Demonstrated experience managing sensitive issues and messaging
- Significant management experience
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, music, arts administration, or a related field
