Job Summary
Managing Director of Financial Strategy to oversee the financial strategy for KIPP Indy Public Schools network. Lead annual budget planning, forecasting, and financial strategy; steward banking relationships and cash flow; manage grants lifecycle and compliance for federal, state, and philanthropic funding; develop budgets for secured grants; ensure internal controls and alignment between programmatic priorities and funding; collaborate with HR on compensation strategy; prepare board materials and financial reports; coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, banks, and grantors; translate complex financial data for non-financial stakeholders; drive revenue opportunities and long-term sustainability across the charter-school network; oversee regional budgeting and reporting, and support payroll processing and accounts payable with external accounting partner. Competencies include financial judgment, clear communication, detail orientation, accountability, relationship-building, and adaptability.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of accounting or finance experience
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, particularly charter school finances
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Experience leading or supporting annual audits
- Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
- Experience securing and managing grants
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Commitment to the mission of KIPP Indy
Desired Qualifications
- CPA or MBA
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience supervising finance staff
- Experience securing and managing grants
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Experience leading or supporting annual audits
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, particularly charter school finances
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Experience in charter schools, public education finance, or nonprofit K–12 organizations
- Familiarity with Indiana Department of Education reporting requirements
