Job Summary
Managing Attorney responsible for training, mentoring and overseeing associate attorneys; reviews new claims and pleadings and manages a contested litigation queue; may appear in court; emphasizes adherence to the firm’s standards and values while driving quality management and team culture. Key duties include training and disciplining associates, evaluating pleadings, drafting and reviewing motions, arguing contested motions, conducting trials/arbitrations, coordinating with opposing counsel, and overseeing discovery and depositions. Requires strong written and verbal communication, ability to work independently, manage timelines and keep detailed records, and proficiency with common software. The role benefits from MO licensure familiarity and may value additional licenses (e.g., MO and BG state licenses) alongside Kansas Bar admission.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate and admittance to Kansas Bar. (MO license as well as additional licenses in BG states are valuable)
- The most successful associates have strong computer skills, allowing them to work efficiently in programs like Word and Excel.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff, judges, opposing counsel, and circuit court clerks.
