Job Summary
Managing Attorney to oversee and supervise self-help legal services in our Community Education program for non-detained adults and families dealing with immigration processes. Responsibilities include training, mentoring, supervising staff and volunteers; expanding pro bono referrals and mentorship; maintaining stakeholder relations; overseeing data entry and contract compliance; developing program materials, presentations, and workshops. Requires leadership in coordinating legal orientations regarding removal proceedings, intake and follow-up services, self-help workshops, and referrals for pro bono assistance or social services. Competencies include organizational, research, and writing skills; Spanish proficiency; initiative; teamwork; and passion for immigrant communities. Hybrid work arrangement available (2-3 days remote per week, subject to approval). Benefits package offered.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate
- Active bar admission (California state bar preferred but not required)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the practice of law, preferably in immigration law
- Strong organizational, case management, legal research, and legal writing skills
- Spanish language proficiency (will be tested at interview)
- Willingness to be a team-player with collaboration aptitude
- Immigration court litigation experience strongly preferred
- Experience with vulnerable client populations (children, families, mental health issues) and community outreach/public speaking
