Job Summary
Manager, Dive Operations & Habitat Maintenance provides leadership and operational support for Discovery Cove and Aquatica’s maintenance dive operations and habitat maintenance programs. Oversees daily underwater cleaning, habitat presentation, dive safety, underwater repairs, and maintenance diver staffing; contributes to staff development, safety compliance, budgeting, and capital project support; requires strong leadership in aquarium/diving operations and experience with preventative maintenance and project coordination to ensure habitat cleanliness, safety, and guest experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and operational experience related to dive operations, aquatic systems, zoological operations, facilities maintenance, or commercial diving.
- 3+ years of experience in aquarium, zoological, commercial, or aquatic maintenance diving operations.
- 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required dive safety certifications, CPO license, and applicable operational certifications.
- Experience with dive safety procedures, underwater maintenance operations, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Experience with coaching, staff development, and conflict resolution.
- Experience managing projects involving multiple departments, contractors, vendors, timelines, and operational priorities.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and operational experience related to dive operations, aquatic systems, zoological operations, facilities maintenance, or commercial diving.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in aquarium, zoological, commercial, or aquatic maintenance diving operations.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required dive safety certifications, CPO license, and applicable operational certifications.
- Experience with dive safety procedures, underwater maintenance operations, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Experience with coaching, staff development, and conflict resolution.
