Job Summary
Manager for the US Tax group in Toronto, focusing on cross-border transactions and US tax work for Canadian-based clients. Responsibilities include structuring corporate investments and expansion into the US, due diligence on US entities or assets, US compliance (state and local) and planning to minimize US tax liability, planning for permanent establishments, nexus determinations, outbound US investments, and advising on cross-border tax strategies. The role also involves preparing detailed cross-border tax returns, performing technical tax research, and assisting in implementing value-added tax planning strategies, while leading and mentoring team members in a hybrid-work environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5-7+ years’ of work experience with US Tax
- Completed undergraduate degree, CPA preferred
- Interpreting financial information, and review of US corporate income tax returns
- Strong leadership abilities to lead & mentor others
- A demonstrated team player with flexibility and initiative
- Strong MS Office skills including Word and Excel
- An accounting background would be considered an asset
