Job Summary
Support U.S. tax reporting, compliance, and planning activities by managing federal and state income, franchise, and indirect tax obligations while driving process improvement through tax technology and AI. Review working papers, schedules, and tax returns to ensure accurate reporting for external audits, and oversee state and federal controversy responses. Develop quarterly and annual tax provision workplans, maintain SOX compliance, and co-supervise a team of highly skilled professionals and contractors. Evaluate emerging tax technologies to enhance efficiency and scalability. Monitor changes in tax laws to assess organizational impact.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with tax technology, automation, data analytics, and emerging AI-enabled solutions
- Knowledge of federal and state income/franchise and indirect tax obligations (e.g., sales/use, personal property)
- Experience supporting US audits and projects
- Experience reviewing and managing working papers, schedules, reports/memos, tax returns, and other items related to accounting for income taxes and tax returns
- Experience ensuring SOX compliance
- Experience preparing and reviewing documentation and responses for state and federal tax controversy
- Experience managing outsourced indirect tax compliance, including oversight of sales and use tax, property tax, and other indirect tax filings
- Experience coordinating with external service providers
- Experience managing audits and resolution of notices and compliance issues
- Ability to evaluate and leverage tax technology tools, data analytics platforms, AI-enabled solutions, and other emerging technologies
- Experience co-supervising, mentoring and developing staff of highly skilled professionals
- Experience managing contractor positions
- Ability to monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization
- Experience conducting technical tax research and documenting conclusions on complex tax matters
