Manager, Transitions Program

Job Summary

Coordinate and implement Best Buddies Transitions Program curriculum through classroom-based instruction, small group, and one-to-one support to develop social, vocational, and workplace competency skills for adolescents and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Screen referrals, perform intakes, and document all services and communications in participant case records while assuming full responsibility for a caseload. Develop positive relationships with families, support coordinators, and community stakeholders to facilitate job exploration, self-advocacy, and work-based learning experiences. Upon program completion, initiate transfer of responsibilities to Jobs Program staff and provide introductions to natural supports and employers. Manage volunteer recruitment, intake processing, and ongoing data management using Salesforce to reflect program impact. Collaborate with the State Director to increase awareness through local marketing, public speaking, and media initiatives, including contributions to state website updates and Best Buddies Day activities. Complete required paperwork, including case file documentation, monthly/quarterly/annual reports, and incident reports to maximize funding and prepare for audits. Attend team meetings virtually and in-person to support national collaboration and alignment to program standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years experience or employment in job coaching, counseling, or special education
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as rehabilitation, counseling, social work, psychology, education, human resources, business administration, or economics
  • 1 year experience as an employment consultant
  • 1 year experience in special education or vocational training
  • Must be adaptable and able to quickly and effectively develop and balance multiple relationships and get results from a variety of people
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, project and time management skills
  • Strong written communicator who pays close attention to detail
  • demonstrates a strong initiative, drive for results and self-assessment skills
  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be comfortable engaging with people with IDD
  • Must be comfortable meeting new people
  • Must be comfortable addressing sensitive issues
  • Must be comfortable with frequent local travel
  • Must be able to use personal cell phone
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Access to an automobile with applicable insurance
  • Employment is contingent upon accreditation by governing state agency

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferably 1 year experience as an employment consultant
