Job Summary
Lead and manage Training & Compliance initiatives for transit operations, maintenance, and supervisory staff to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (FTA, DOT, state agencies) and organizational standards. Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive training programs; oversee onboarding, certification, and recertification; lead safety committee and in-service activities; manage performance metrics and reporting for leadership and regulatory bodies. Serve as primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors; coordinate audits, investigations, and corrective actions; drive workforce safety initiatives and continuous improvement. Oversee a Drive Cam program and collaborate with Transportation and Maintenance to align training with operational goals. Requires a High School diploma (college degree preferred), TSI bus trainer certification, MA CDL Class B with Passenger and Airbrakes endorsements, and at least 3 years’ transit experience with B vehicles; must understand DOT/OSHA/NIMS/EPA/ADA requirements and possess strong communications, adult-education, and leadership skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred
- Certified Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) bus operator trainer
- MA CDL Class B with Passenger and Airbrakes endorsements
- At least 3 years’ progressive transit experience with commercial class B vehicles in a fixed route transit system
- Knowledge of DOT policies, OSHA, NIMS, EPA standards and ADA requirements
- Experience developing and implementing safety program plans and procedures; conducting investigations, analyzing data, identifying and recommending corrective action
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding of sensitive material
- Conduct oral presentations, relay technical information clearly
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce
- Knowledge of adult education principles and practices
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral); strong time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word
- Ability to interpret and explain regulations to others
- Lead training and compliance teams; manage budgets and vendor relationships
- Develop KPIs and reports for leadership and regulatory agencies
- DOT drug screening and background check requirements; safety-focused culture
