Job Summary
Manager of Technical Publications and Product Training responsible for strategic and operational leadership of the development, governance, and delivery of product-level technical documentation and training for GTI sonar systems. Oversees technical publications, IETMs, training programs, courseware, and related knowledge products that support operations, maintenance, customer delivery, and internal readiness. Builds and maintains department capability through resource planning, quality standards, workflow maturity, stakeholder alignment, and delivery performance across multiple programs and products. Leads a team of technical writers, trainers, illustrators, content developers, and related specialists; collaborates with Program Management, Engineering, ILS, Sonar Operations, Field Service, and Quality to ensure documentation and training deliverables are accurate, compliant, and aligned with contractual requirements. Travel internationally and manage governance, standards, templates, and quality expectations for product-level documentation; develop and oversee training strategy, curriculum design, and scalable delivery for customers, end users, and internal teams.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent relevant career experience.
- Extensive experience in technical publications, product training, ILS, engineering documentation, product support, or related technical environment, including significant experience leading teams.
- Proven ability to manage department priorities, budgets, schedules, resource plans, risks, and deliverables across multiple programs or products.
- Strong understanding of technical publications, structured authoring, IETM/IETP development, S1000D or similar standards, configuration-controlled documentation, training development, and product support environments.
- Experience in defence, aerospace, marine, sonar, engineering, or other complex technical product environments preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional stakeholders, influence priorities, resolve delivery constraints, and communicate effectively with technical teams, program leadership, customers, and senior management.
- Familiarity with XML-based authoring platforms, content management systems, publishing systems, learning management systems, and modern training delivery tools is an asset.
