Job Summary
Lead procurement and sourcing for mechanical fabrication items including sheet metal, machined components, castings, and fasteners; manage RFQs, techno-commercial evaluations, and negotiations; ensure timely release of purchase orders and adherence to delivery schedules; vendor management including performance evaluations and audits; drive supplier performance improvements and expediting to prevent production disruptions; drive cost reductions through alternate sourcing, value engineering/value analysis, and benchmarking; monitor market trends for raw materials; collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams on design-to-cost and manufacturability; leverage ERP systems for PO processing, supplier master management, and analytics; read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications; support new product development and project sourcing; uphold Ohmium values of accountability, teamwork, continuous learning, and winning attitude.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is desired
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in sourcing / purchasing of mechanical components and exposure to fabrication sourcing is mandatory
- Experience in manufacturing / engineering industries is preferred
- Strong negotiation and commercial acumen
- Proficiency in ERP systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Exposure and reasonable knowledge of Quality Systems and Standards
- Experience in cost reduction and strategic sourcing initiatives
- Exposure to global sourcing is an added advantage
