Job Summary
Oversee day-to-day operations of a busy OR Sterile Processing/central sterile department, supervise OR SPD technicians and staff, manage all collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, and inventory for SPD, collaborate with OR personnel to improve workflows, ensure regulatory compliance, develop training and orientation programs, and communicate departmental performance data to senior leadership; requires BS/BA degree and active CBSPD/IAHCSMM certification with leadership experience in a healthcare SPD setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree required
- Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM is required
- Ability to manage day-to-day operations of busy healthcare central sterile/sterile processing department
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong leadership and teaching abilities
- Experience with inventory management, decontamination, assembly, sterilization and high-level disinfection processes
- Proactive collaboration with OR staff and administration to improve workflows
- Ability to develop staff orientation and competency validation
- Knowledge of regulatory standards (CMS, TJC, AAMI, AORN, APIC) and IFU compliance
- Education/professional development for SPD leadership within 12 months of hire
- Ability to analyze data and present to leadership
