Job Summary
Lead and grow CNN's Growth Team, building features for registered users on one of the world's leading news and media platforms. Collaborate with product, design, analytics, and marketing to develop and test products and user experiences that drive customer acquisition and engagement. Develop primarily in modern JavaScript (Node, Python, Svelte, Sass) and server-side logic, ensuring secure, performant, and scalable experiences across web, mobile, and TV platforms. Contribute to code and architecture reviews, champion engineering standards, implement APIs, integrate 3rd-party libraries, and optimize for cross-browser compatibility and responsive design. Experience with A/B testing, CI/CD pipelines using AWS, and working in Agile environments is required; extra credit for internationalization/localization, CMS platforms, Vue.js/Handlebars templating, and advanced analytics integration.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with JavaScript, including ES6/7 and asynchronous JavaScript
- 5+ years of experience working with other developers on a production system
- Experience in Agile methodologies for organized and distributed work within the team
- Experience integrating front-end elements with server-side logic
- Experience designing and implementing APIs for data exchange between client and server
- Strong understanding of software data structures and algorithms
- Experience with performance monitoring and analytics tools (Datadog, New Relic, or similar)
- Ability to review group or company level priorities (OKRs) and break down problems into tasks
Desired Qualifications
