Job Summary
Manage a team of 8-10 engineers in the SAS 9 R&D Division, overseeing development, testing, internal/external communication, and performance growth. Develop objectives aligned with departmental goals while scoping, scheduling, and tracking medium-complexity projects to ensure timely implementation. Represent departmental interests to stakeholders and upper management, communicating risks, resource allocation, and status updates. Advocate for best practices and continuous improvement throughout the software lifecycle, acting as an advisor on daily operations and complex problem resolution.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent Java development skills
- Knowledge of large-scale enterprise software development
- Knowledge of various Java open-source products
- Solid skills of Windows, Linux and other Unix platforms
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency with all aspects of the software development/testing lifecycle
- A strong work ethic
- The ability to learn quickly, operate comfortably, and make decisions within a complex environment with incomplete information
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, organizational, managerial, and problem-solving skills
- Able to build consensus across cross-functional teams and encourage knowledge-sharing within the team
- Strong decision-making abilities
- Familiarity with SQL programming
- Working knowledge of Continuous Integration
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of SAS 9 midtier - would be great
- Knowledge of SAS 9 deployment and different topologies
- Quick-learner, good team-work skills and willing to work on new technologies
