Job Summary
Manager, Shift is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating daily logistics operations at the Detroit facility to maximize scheduling and delivery of commodities, interfacing with customers to ensure tight schedule adherence, enacting contingency plans during system problems or disasters, reviewing performance against targets, and providing effective leadership to Warehouse Managers and teams. The role emphasizes operational leadership, problem-solving, communication with customers, and continuous process improvement within a logistics/warehouse context.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, engineering, or related field
- progressive experience in operational and plant management (preferably in automotive or logistics)
- ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents
- ability to respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints
- ability to write documents with original or innovative techniques
- ability to present to top management and customers
- ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
- ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- proficient PC skills (email, record keeping, databases, word processing, spreadsheets)
